The weather will be mild in the coming week. The Geosphere Austria forecast shows a very changeable west-northwest weather situation has begun. However, individual cold-air lakes are still present; regionally, there may still be black ice early on Monday. The daily highs will be around eleven degrees, with ten degrees also possible over the course of the week.

On Monday, the sun must share the sky with many dense clouds in Austria until midday. Especially around the main Alpine ridge, but also in the eastern lowlands, it will still rain at times with a snow line between 1,500 and 2,000 meters above sea level, but most of all in the west of the country. There may be temporary icy conditions due to freezing rain in the Vienna Basin and on the eastern edge of the Alps. In the afternoon, the precipitation will finally subside, and the sun will appear more often. Only in the southwest of Austria and locally in Upper Austria will the last brief rain showers pass through. The prevailing wind direction will be southeast to west. The wind will blow weakly to moderately from this direction, and in the foehn valleys on the northern side of the Alps, it will be brisk. Temperatures in the morning will be between minus six and four degrees. The highest temperatures during the day will be between three and eleven degrees.

Cloudy and partly rainy on Tuesday
Tuesday will start sunny in the eastern half of the country. Further west, however, the clouds will thicken in the morning, and rain will set in by midday with a snow line between 1700 and 2200 meters above sea level. By the evening, the clouds and rain will slowly spread eastward and finally reach the eastern lowlands and south-eastern Styria. It will remain predominantly dry only in Carinthia and southern Styria. The wind will blow from south to east and be brisk in the Föhn valleys west and in Upper and Lower Austria, Vienna, and northern Burgenland. After minus six to plus six degrees in the morning, it will warm up to two to ten degrees during the day.
Under the influence of disturbances, dense clouds will dominate the eastern Alps on Wednesday, and it will rain or snow frequently and regionally for longer periods of time, but mainly near the main Alpine ridge and in the south. The snow line will mainly be between 1,000 and 1,500 meters above sea level; only in heavy precipitation may it drop significantly lower. In the afternoon, isolated clearings are most likely in the far north and west. The wind will mostly be light. Early morning temperatures range from minus one to plus six degrees, and daytime highs reach two to ten degrees.

Quite dry and sunnier on Thursday
South of the main Alpine ridge and in south-eastern Austria, sunny and dry weather will prevail on Thursday after fog patches or residual clouds have cleared. Further north and east, however, there will be significantly more clouds. Some areas will also have further precipitation, especially from Bregenzerwald to Mariazellerland. The snow line will gradually drop to around 1200 to 700 meters above sea level. The wind will blow from the west to the northwest, mostly weak to moderate. In some foehn valleys on the southern side of the Alps and in the Vienna Basin, it will be brisk in places. Early temperatures will range from minus two to plus six degrees, with daytime highs reaching around three to ten degrees.

With a north-westerly to northerly flow, extensive clouds with rain, sleet, or snowfall may make themselves felt again on Friday, especially in the northern half of Austria. The snow line is likely to drop to lower altitudes. The southern side of the Alps will have much friendlier weather, with at least intermittent sunshine. Moderate north-westerly winds will blow in the Danube region and on the eastern edge of the Alps, with some brisk winds in the mountains. Otherwise, the wind will essentially die down in the lowlands. Early temperatures will be between minus five and three degrees, with daytime highs usually only between one and six degrees.
